Through the Valley Counselling
I’m Jessica
I grew up in Vancouver, BC, and after spending years living in different parts of the world, I settled with my family in the Comox Valley in 2019. Before pursuing counselling, I studied culinary arts and sustainable agriculture and spent years working in various communities offering mentorship and support. These experiences continue to shape my belief in the importance of connection, care, and resilience.
I now work from a small, tranquil clinic on the edge of town, shared with just two other practitioners, where the warmth of a wood stove and the quiet surroundings help create a space to slow down and settle in. I love working alongside people in all stages of life and across a wide range of experiences. My approach is warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental—whether you’re new to counselling or have done this work before, you are welcome here. Together, we can gently explore the roots of what you’re facing, making sense of patterns and long-standing challenges so that meaningful change can begin to unfold.
At home, I live on a small hobby farm in Courtenay, where we enjoy the rhythms of the land and the richness of community life. Outside of work, you’ll often find me hiking, swimming in local watering holes, or sharing meaningful time with friends and family.
I studied at City University of Seattle and am awaiting my RCC designation.
I acknowledge that this work takes place on the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation. I offer gratitude for their deep and ongoing relationship with this land, waters, and community, and I hold respect for the knowledge, resilience, and care that continues to shape this place. May this space be one of respect, listening, and connection.
Therapy Offerings
Counselling, to me, is about offering a quiet, steady space—like a clearing in the woods—where you can set things down and simply be. It’s a place to slow your pace, to find a sense of calm and safety, and to gently turn toward what’s happening within.

Individual counselling offers a supportive space to explore whatever you’re facing, at your own pace. I work with concerns such as grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, addictions, relationship challenges, ADHD, and more. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change. Sessions are available both online and in person in a calm, nature-based setting.

Brainspotting is a focused, body-based approach that helps access and process trauma and emotional experiences held deep in the brain and nervous system. By using specific eye positions, we can gently connect to what may feel stuck or overwhelming, allowing the body to process and release it at its own pace. This work can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, and experiences that feel difficult to put into words.

IFS is a compassionate, non-pathologizing approach that helps you explore different “parts” of yourself—especially those that may have taken on protective roles over time. Rather than trying to change or get rid of these parts, we work to understand them, build trust, and support healing from within. This process can bring greater clarity, self-compassion, and a deeper sense of internal balance.
